2015 Honda Pilot Touring Trailer Wiring Troubleshooting
Question:
I have no power for running lights on my 2015 honda pilot touring tow plug. All fuses in engine compartment are fine. Break lights and turn signals work fine. I am not sure what I can be missing at this point. Why would there be no power to running lights only.

Since you have the running lights on your 2015 Honda Pilot, you can isolate the issue to your towing wiring harness or your vehicle. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test each function on your trailer wiring. If each function works at your trailer connection on your vehicle side, then you know the issue is on the trailer side. If this is the case, check the trailer ground wire connection and the ground connections at your tail lights which is often the mounting hardware. If the function doesn't work on the vehicle side, you have isolated the issue to the vehicle wiring.
Often when one function like this isn't working, the issue is the ground wire connection or a short in that specific wire that matches the function. I recommend first checking the ground wire for a metal to metal connection free of debris or corrosion and checking any harness connections for a bent pin. Then swap out your relays to see if you may have a relay issue. Next probe the individual wires using a circuit tester to trace for power checking every few feet. If you find you have power on some of the wire, then you have found the short and can splice in a new wire at that location.
If you have no power, you will need to use the circuit tester on either side of the fuse location and test for power there. If there is no power at the fuse, that is the reason the fuse is in tact and you still don't have function. You will need to trace that wire probing every few feet to find the short.
