Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan
Question:
Ordered a Curt 4-flat wiring harness a year ago, along with a tester. All good. Never used it. Today, hooked up a trailer and the running lights on the trailer are always on, even with the engine off. Tester agrees with that. Help?

What you described sounds like a shorted out converter box on the trailer wiring you installed. The converter boxes of trailer wiring are designed to take themselves out before allowing a short from trailer wiring to make it to the vehicle wiring. We've also noticed that Curt converter boxes typically short out easier than other brands. So best option will be to replace your Curt kit on your 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan with a Tow Ready harness part # 118675 after tracking down what caused the short on your vehicle. Most likely there's exposed wire or corrosion on your trailer wiring that's causing the short that you'll need to track down and fix.
