Trailer Brake Controller Stopped Working with Brake Pedal on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
Good day. I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 pick up. I have a Voyager controller and it works manually but does not work when I press the brake pedal. The controller was in the truck when I bought it and worked for a while. I have 2 different trailers and now it is not working. Do you have any suggestions. Thank you.

It is possible that the CHMSL (center high mount stop lamp) fuse or stop light fuse is blown on your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. That would cause the brake controller to only work with the manual override. You can also check any fuses and relays related to the brake controller. If those fuses are good, and if the brake controller was hardwired in rather than plugged in with harness # 3020-P then it could be the connection on the red brake controller wire.
You can use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the brake controller red wire. It should only have power when the brake pedal is pressed. If it does not, then you may need to make a new connection between the brake controller red wire and the brake switch wire it attaches to.
I have included some additional links to testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
