Trailer Hitch for a 2018 Toyota Sienna with Rear Camera and Backup Sensors

Question:

We were told by the dealership that Toyota has yet to approve a trailer hitch system that is technically compatible with the 2018 Sienna if its equipped with a rear backup camera and sensor. Can you confirm if this system is compatible with the vehicle and its sensors?

EcoHitch does not have a statement on if hitch # 306-X7255 excludes any version of the 2018 Toyota Sienna or not. But the similar Draw-Tite hitch # 76112 is shown to fit all styles of the 2018 Toyota Sienna. Since both hitches install in basically the same way you could come to the conclusion that the EcoHitch also fits all styles of the 2018 Sienna and that would include models with the rear backup camera and sensors.

The dealer is probably talking more about the sensors detecting a hitch or anything in the hitch. But that would only be an issue when in reverse, if it is an issue at all, and the hitch by itself would not interfere with backup sensors or a camera. I have linked videos showing example installations of both hitches mentioned above.

It seams that both models are hidden but I am trying to see the difference between this 2 models, would you please explain?

You're right that both the Draw-Tite # 76112 and EcoHitch # 306-X7255 feature hidden designs where only the 2" receiver is actually visible. Other than brand/manufacturer, the two units differ in their construction (Draw-Tite uses fully welded steel and EcoHitch uses a unique alloy made of recycled materials) and their ability to be used with a weight distribution system - the Draw-Tite can and the EcoHitch cannot. Between the two options I'd go with the Draw-Tite unit.
