An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

These have proven to the perfect solution for our '17 Ram 2500 flatbed. I installed them to support a lightweight (1k lbs) camper that became unsafe in strong crosswinds. The Timbrens have 100% solved the delayed sway problem, without affecting loaded ride quality. They have made the empty truck more harsh over around-town bumps. Just something to live with, not a big problems.

Excellent product. World of a difference when towing my 5th wheel. 2018 Ram 2500 megacab with a 90 gallon auxiliary transfer tank

2017 Dodge Ram Pickup

Before, my 2017 Ram 2500 (SRW) would wobble and shake between 35 and 0 mph. I installed them yesterday and it was just as easy as advertised. Today, I loaded my Lance 1130 and did a road test. After, I reached 75 mph and there was no vibration, rocking or squatting. Problem completely solved.

by:
2019 Ram 2500

Parts arrived a day early. Awesome

by:

I am very happy with me Timbren Suspension System, I have no sway when my Truck Camper is on the vehicle. The ride is comfortable and would recommend this product. I will say the ride when the truck is empty is not quite as smooth but the truck is an HD. I just air the tires down when I’m empty and it smooths the ride out.

by:
2017 Ram 2500

Installation was simple except the instructions seem to be in error or conflict. One of the brackets is marked "left" for drivers side. The bottom of the bracket has a straight side and a rounded side. The directions and an installation video on this site say the straight side should be on the frame side. In this position the spring only has partial bearing on the existing plate on top of the axle. The bracket marked "left" has the rounded side on the frame side and this mounting position works the best to get full bearing of the spring on the existing plate on top of the axle.

by:

They went on pretty easy. Except having to deal with the emergency break line we had to disconnect but that’s not your fault. And the hole order and delivery was very easy and they arrived in quick time. I will order from you again. I’m very satisfied.

by:

They did not fit right on my 2021 power wagon, I had to modify to make them line up with my differential and had to buy shorter mounting bolts for the bracket plus they where already used

Fast shipping and great price. I could not be happier with July purchase.

by:

My Timbrens work great. No adding or subtracting air for towing. No worries about air lines leaking or coming loose. Just hook up the 5th wheel and go. No muss, no fuss, no sag.

Very happy with the purchase process, best price, quick delivery.

2022 Ram 2500

Installation was easy and well under one hour.

by:

Work as advertised is a great support system for my pick up camper. Very easy to install .. i’m leaving a star off because it was not designed to sit perfectly on top of my axle the bottom hangs off a bit 1/2-3/4” so I’m not getting the full support that I should

Watched numerous videos highlighting the Timbren SES and how to install on my 2019 RAM 2500. It seemed like a good idea due to the fact I tow a 5th wheel RV that almost maxes out the payload limit on my truck. I had them installed as instructed, which included installing the spacers, by a local garage. The ride home was an eye opener. The ride was very stiff and it felt like every bump in the road was magnified. Fortunately a few of the videos I watched suggested the install minus the spacers. I returned to the garage and had the SES reinstalled without the spacers. The ride home again was much smoother. I can't wait to hitch up my 5th wheel and go camping knowing I have the Timbren SES installed to help cushion the suspension of my truck.

2020 Ram 2500

Installed on a 2020 Dodge 2500. The ride when empty is awful. Like riding in a wagon it is so stiff. I took out the round disk to give a little play between the stop and diff. Loaded my 4 Wheeler on a trailer and it was terrible. I hate to hook up my 34 foot toy hauler. I'm afraid the truck will beat me to death, it is so stiff.
Therebis absolutely no give here. I am surely disappointed and will remove these and try something else. Air bags

2020 Ram 2500

Bought them to remedy sway problem my rig (2020 Ram 2500 Hemi, with slide in camper) experienced recently. I was debating between add Timbren and a stronger sway bar. Decided to try Timbren first for cheaper price and ease of installation. Just returned from a camping trip from Tahoe last night without a single case of sway during 500 miles of driving. Highly recommend this product.

by:
2015 Dodge Ram Pickup

Installation was a breeze took about 20 minutes to install. I have a Travel Lite 840SBRX slide in camper on my 2015 RAM 2500 4x4 SB. My truck is lifted in the front for a level ride and when the camper was loaded it had little to no squat in the rear at all. The ride without a load is stiffer but not bad. Loaded with camper and they worked perfect. No roll in the corners and no porpoising.

by:

Very easy to install. Does exactly what they say it will do. I no longer experience the sag, roll, and sway that is associated with Ram 2500 coil suspension.

by:

Easy to install like that a lot.

by:

2017 ram 2500 with coil springs. Wast of time, install with 1” spacer, truck road like a box of rocks, could feel every little bump, took 1” spacer off not much better at all, way to stiff of a ride, when you hit a bump you new it. Parts are already in box to go back. Not any fault or etrailer at all, they don’t make the product just sell it.

by:

Great to work with

by:
2015 Ram 2500

Easy to install. Pickup remained level with loaded trailer. Got exactly what I wanted.

by:

Super easy to install, let's see how long they last. The local truck camper dealer says he has been installing them for 10 years and no failures.

by:
2020 Dodge Ram Pickup

Worked great. Fixed my sway issue on my 2020 Ram 2500 with a truck camper.

by:
2019 Ram 2500

They work as expected and installation was 20 mins

They do a lot for stability for heaving towing the ride suffers a little empty

  • Can I Use the Firestone RideRite Air Bags on a 2018 Ram 2500 with a Front Leveling Kit
Even with the leveling kit on the front of your 2018 Ram 2500, you'll still be able to use the Firestone Ride Rite Air Bags # F2615 on your rear axle and they're going to do a great job helping fight squat when you're towing your travel trailer. In regards to raising the rear of the truck and changing the hitch height, this shouldn't be an issue since they're being used to bring the truck back to stock height after the tongue weight of the trailer is put on; if your truck suspension is...

I reached out to my contact at Timbren and the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TDRTT3500E you were looking at is indeed a confirmed fit for your 2017 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. This kit provides 8000lbs of load leveling support to keep your truck from sagging when carrying a heavy payload, or towing a trailer. • Which Timbren SES Do I Need for a 2017 Ram 2500
The difference between the Timbren # TDR2500D and the # TDRTT3500E is that the TDRTT3500E are designed for commercial service trucks which will have a more beefy suspension system already and a slightly different frame. The TDR2500D is designed for the passenger vehicles like your 2017 Ram 2500, so this would be the Timbren SES you're looking for. Whether or not you have the off-road package on your 2017 Ram 2500 won't have any effect on which Timbren system you're using, so there's nothing...

Yes, the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System is one of the very few suspension enhancement options that you have that will work on a 2015 Ram 2500 with the factory air suspension. That said, I would actually recommend the part # TDR2500D for your truck instead of the part # TDRTT3500E as these are more designed for service trucks or those with an in-bed camper.

When it comes to carrying a truck bed camper, I always go with Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems over the SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs similar to the # SSR-312-54 . With that being said, I think the better solution for your 2015 Ram 2500 are the Timbren # TDRTT3500E, since they are specifically designed for trucks carrying truck bed campers. The Timbren # TDR2500D would also work but are meant more for carrying heavy payloads and may not provide as much body roll dampening. The...

With the Timbren option having 8,000 pounds of load leveling capacity, they will of course be the more heavy duty option.
