Recommended Way to Secure Vehicle to Trailer that Is Towed Behind Motorhome

Question:

. . . of my 2011 Escape to secure it to a flat wood floor car hauler? The points are in the sub frame and body rails. I use a T hook to attach the 2inch ratchet straps from the stake pockets. Should I try control the body movement or go to the wheels with a basket? I should mention that one of the body tie points in the fender was torn out because I failed to keep the strap tight. I am a full time RVer. I tow our Escape on a 22foot car hauler behind a 38foot diesel motorhome. Ive used the frame point tie down method for about 3 years and about 7500 miles of interstate roads. I guess Im looking for some industry best practice advice. Respond when you can. Not going anywhere for a couple of weeks.

I like using wheel straps for securing vehicles to trailer as the wheels of a vehicle are very securely attached to it and you don't have the risk of ripping out body tie down points like you mentioned experiencing.

For that I really like the Pack'Em Wheel Tie Down Kit part # PK-WTD which you'd use for each of the tires.
