How to Choose the Right Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer Level with a 2003 Toyota Camry
Question:
I am looking to purchase a hitch for my Camry. My question is, how do I determine how many inches up or down the ball mount needs to be versus my trailer height? I would like to purchase everything at once.

To choose a ball mount with the correct rise and drop, you'll first need to take two measurements: your hitch height and trailer coupler height. The difference between them will be your rise or drop.
To take the first measurement make sure the vehicle is on level ground and measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. On hitch # 36336 for your 2003 Toyota Camry that measurement is approximately 12 inches.
To take the second measurement make sure the trailer is on level ground. Then use the trailer jack to make the trailer level. Then measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler.
If the vehicle is higher then the difference is the amount of drop you will need. If the trailer is higher the difference is the amount of rise you will need. I have included a link to all of the 1-1/4 inch ball mounts available.
