Right off the bat the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET has an advantage because it has a larger Tongue Weight (TW) range of 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs as opposed to the 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs TW range of the Blue Ox # BXW1000. The flip side of that is if you get a heavier or lighter trailer then you would need to change out the whole Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution (WD) system whereas the Blue Ox systems use the same head so you would just need to swap out the bars. This is much more cost-effective than purchasing a whole new system.

The next difference is that the Equal-i-zer comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball while the Blue Ox doesn't come with one so you would have to purchase a 2" # A-90 or 2-5/16" # 19286 hitch ball separately. The drawback to the Equal-i-zer system is that you have to use a thin-walled socket, like part # ALL643216, to install the hitch ball due to the design of the head. The Blue Ox doesn't require a special socket for the installation.

Aside from those differences both systems come with sway control and have been highly praised by our customers. I personally prefer systems that use the bars and brackets as opposed to chains and brackets when they say that they come with sway control though. This is merely from the look and how a steel bracket seems like it would help prevent sway better than a chain would.

If I were you I would focus more on what I mentioned in the first paragraph. If you plan on towing trailers with about the same weight capacity then I recommend going with the Equal-i-zer system but if you would like the option to use the WD system with a wide range of trailer weights (by getting different bars) then the Blue Ox is your best option. I really don't have a problem recommending either one as they are both excellent systems.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out for installation comparisons.
