Wiring Parts for 16-Foot Deck Trailer with Brakes

Question:

I am looking for a wiring harness for my 16ft trailer. It has trailer brakes and two side marker lights and tail lights. You have anything that will work? Thanks

We can help you with new wiring for your 16-foot trailer with brakes. We do not have a wiring-only type kit but we do have complete kits with both lights and wiring, such as # TLL9RK and the other similar kits shown on the linked page. If you just need specific wiring components we can help you with those too.

A good way to go is the 7-way junction box #HS381-9000, which mounts to the trailer tongue. Your existing wiring (or new wiring) can then connect inside this junction box, including the wiring from your electric brakes. You'll need ring terminals # 44-5310A to make the connections inside the box and wiring to connect the light and brakes.

You can use 10-gauge duplex wire # 10-2-1 for the brake circuit and ground and for the lights 12-gauge # 12-1-1 will be fine. You may need butt connectors like # DW05745-10 to make wire-to-wire splice connections.

Helpful articles on trailer wiring and lighting are linked for you too.
