Are Bearing Buddys Safer Than Standard Grease Caps
Question:
I’m planning a 4500 mile R/T from Ga to Az. My 23 foot has only gone maybe 700 miles total. If I install Bearing Buddies would I be safe to make that cross country trip. I know enough to know that starving bearings for lubrication out west in very hot conditions isn’t a good idea. Would you please let me know your thoughts. Thank You,

The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors like part # BB1980A will replace the grease cap on a trailer hub. They have a easily accessible grease fitting which makes adding grease to the bearings quick and simple. They also contain an automatic pressure-relief feature which works to prevent overfilling. It would be hard to say that they would be safer than a standard grease cap but they will provide you with the above features.
In order to select the correct set you would need to use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the pilot hole opening on your trailer hub to the nearest thousandth of an inch. For example, the above Bearing Buddy fits a pilot hole opening of 1.980".
I have attached a list of our Bearing Buddy selection once you find your pilot hole diameter in addition to a review video for you as well.
