Recommended Options for Height Adjustment on 1,800 lb Axle

Question:

Trailer and cargo gross less that 1500 pounds. The frame rails on the trailer are 48 outside to outside. I was able to get a rough measurement center to center on the leafs, and I think a 46-1/2 should fit. But I need an overslung axle. The one that came off was a channel with two short spindles sticking out the ends rather than an axle running the entire length. Also I need roughly 56 inches from hub face to hub face. Can I install this axle in the overslung configuration?

You can mount the CE Smith Trailer Axle w/ Idler Hubs - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 57-1/2" Long - 1,800 lbs # CE33201GA-HUB in an overslung axle position. You will simply need to use a U-bolt kit like # CE23102 but with longer U-bolts. We unfortunately do not have that hardware but you will want the bolt plates for 1-3/4 inch springs.
