Per your request, I have attached the installation instructions for the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit, Item # 1003-1, for your 1988 Samurai. There is no drilling needed per the instructions because you will use the existing holes on your Suzuki. I know you already have a tow bar and you probably have everything else you need for flat towing. However, certain things are needed for safe flat towing besides the base plates and tow bar. You also need safety cables, lighting for the vehicle being towed, supplemental braking, and maybe a high-low adapter.
If you need safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, Item # RM-643.
If you need lights, I recommend magnetic tow lights like the Optronics light kit, Item # TL21RK.
Since most states now require a supplemental brake system for vehicles being flat towed, I recommend the Stay-IN-Play DUO, Item # SM99251.
You need to keep your tow bar as level as possible when flat towing so a high-low adapter may be required. I have attached a link to our available inventory.
I have attached some articles and videos for you to check out.
