Should My Tekonsha PRIMUS IQ Brake Controller # TK90160 Always Have Constant Power

Question:

I wired the positive wire to a auto reset circuit breaker under the hood and then to the battery. With the wire going directly to the battery, the power to the brake controller is always on even when the truck is not. Should I leave it wired this way or is there a spot in the fuse box under the hood, or anywhere else, that it could be wired to where there is only power to the controller when the key is on? 1995 chevy silverado

The brake controller needs to be connected to a constant power source so that the settings on the brake controller are not lost. When the brake controller is unplugged, the brake controller is reset and needs to be setup again. Having constant power to the brake controller is the correct way to have the brake controller wired on your 1995 Chevrolet Silverado and on any vehicle.

You will not have to worry about the brake controller draining your battery as it draws milliamps of power. If you were to wire the controller to only have power when the vehicle was turned on, you would have to setup the brake controller each time as the settings would be lost.
