Comparing Trailer Hitches for 2017 Toyota Prius v

Question:

Im looking to install a hitch for a bike rack on a 2017 Toyota Prius V, what is the difference between the Draw-Tite 24847 and 25967? From one readers comment it sounds like the newer model is more hidden under the bumper, is that true and are there any other differences? If its more hidden under the bumper does that also mean the tongue does not extend as far out from the bumper?

The difference between the two hitches you were asking about for your 2017 Toyota Prius v are that the Draw-Tite # 24847 has a visible crosstube while the Draw-Tite # 24967 does not, as you can see in the accompanying photos. As for the distance from the end of the receiver to the edge of the bumper that can vary slightly though as you can see from the photos the difference between the two hitches will be minimal.

The other difference is that because the Draw-Tite # 24967 has a hidden crosstube, there is going to be trimming of the underbody fascia on your Prius, while the Draw-Tite # 24847 will not require that. I've added links to the installation instructions of both videos for you to take a look at.

Both of these hitches are Class I rated with a 1-1/4" receiver so you will need a bike rack compatible with those distinctions. I recommend taking a look at the Thule Doubletrack # TH92BJ which grasps your bikes by the top tube with cushioned ratcheting arms as well as by the rear wheels with ratcheting straps. This rack has an integrated lever which will easily allow you to fold it up when you are not carrying your bikes. The Doubletrack weighs just 32 lbs and comes with a pair of One Key System locks to secure the bikes to your rack.

I've added a link to each of our bike racks compatible with Class I hitches.
