Hitch Receiver Extension for Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24847 On 2012 Toyota Prius

Question:

I am interested in the Draw-Tite hitch. Would you please confirm the model number for me hate to order the wrong one. Also, I am concerned about how much the hitch will extend beyond the fascia of the bumper. I use my hatch a lot of r loading stuff and am afraid Ill keep banging my shin into it. Can you tell me the real inch distance it protrudes? Finally, what are your thoughts on the XTC2? I am seeing it for the first time today and it looks pretty good. Finally, I noticed on the Curt hitch they require some kind of strap/support for a bike rack or the warranty is not void. Is that true for Draw-Tite? thank you for your expert help.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24847 is a good fit for your 2012 Toyota Prius and the receiver will not jut out past the fascia once installed. I have provided a graphic showing the end of the receiver in comparison to a Prius as well as a Prius V. I have also provided a link to the installation instructions for this product as well as a link to a video showing the installation of this hitch on a 2010 Toyota Prius. While not the same model year as your car, the installation technique is the same.

The hitch you referenced is not a compatible fit for the Prius C. If you own a Prius C, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24967. I have provided a link for the installation instructions for this hitch as well.

The Swagman XTC-2 Bike Carrier # S64670 is a solid rack that can carry 2 bikes of up to 35 lbs apiece and works great with most bikes regardless of size or shape. The bikes are secured to the rack at 3 different points and is easy to install and use. I have provided links to the instructions for the proper installation of this rack as well as a video review of this product as well as a video showing its installation on a 2012 Toyota Prius.

Finally, the Draw-Tite hitch does not require a support strap the way the Curt product does in order to maintain the warranty.
