Can a 2 Inch Cargo Carrier Be Used on a 2017 Ford Focus
Question:
I want to use a hitch mounted cargo rack on my 2017 Ford Focus. The rack I have has a tongue for a 2inch receiver. The rack weighs about 100 pounds and has a 300 pound carrying capacity. Do you sell a hitch for the Focus with a 2inch tongue?

I do have options for you, but they currently only offer a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver for your 2017 Ford Focus. For this, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11158 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. In order to use a cargo carrier with a 2" shank you would also need an adapter like part # HTAD. However, using an adapter will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 50 percent. You will also need to take into consideration the vehicles tongue weight capacity as the lower of the two (vehicle/hitch) will be your limiting factor.
The best option for you would be to use a cargo carrier that is designed to work with the 1-1/4" receiver tube opening on the above hitch. I have attached a list of all hitch mounted cargo carriers that will work with the above hitch for you as well.
