Video Transcript for Review of AceCamp Trekking Poles - Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles - 3772623-2

Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the AceCamp Trekking Pole. This is going to be a carbon fiber trekking pole that allows you to have a nice, easy way to get up some higher inclines or just have a nice steadying pole as you go on longer hiking trips. The nice thing about this is that it does telescope down and out, so you can make it pretty compact whenever you're not using it and then extend it out when you want to. So I'm going to show you how to do that. We'll just have these two little clips here and there are markings on the pole to correspond with how tall you're going to make it. It's going to be the same numbers for both sections.

So, if you match up the same spot in each place, that'll allow you to know that you have it right without having to actually measure it yourself. So our first little marker there is 105 centimeters, and then we've got a little hash and then 115, hash, 125, all the way up to about 140 centimeters. That's where it will tell you to stop, because it'll just end up taking out that little piece. So I'm about 5'6", for it to be at the right height, I need it to be about 117. So I'm going to set it there. And then I'm going to match that same spot on the other section, 117.

Here we are. And those are the little hash marks there, so you can get that height dialed in where you need it to be. And then just put your hand through the loop, adjust that to the height that you want or the length you need it to be around your wrist, so that keeps it nice and stable. And now you can set along on your way.Whenever you're adjusting the height, it is good to have your arm at a right angle, if you hold it at your hip. So, that's how I figured out the right height for me.

It will kind of depend if you want it to be a little bit higher, but generally right about at a right angle with your hip is the right height for you. So pretty easy and quick to make those adjustments. Whenever you're done with your trek for the day, you can just cinch that up, close it up, and then you're ready to store it away again. The strap does adjust pretty easily. It's just that little tab that you pull out or the loop itself to pull out to make it looser. The handle is a EPA foam, so it's nice and lightweight, but it's going to resist any kind of abrasions or cracking and over time that will conform to the shape of your hand.

And it's pretty big. So even if you have bigger hands than me, which I don't have the largest hands ever, you'll still have a nice grip on there. It has a couple of swells to give yourself a more ergonomic grip. The material this is made out of is 80% carbon fiber, so nice and durable, but still lightweight. So it's not going to weigh you down as you're lifting that and moving it along on the trail. It should be a great addition to your trekking setup. It does have a little bit of give here at the tip and that's going to be that antishock stem. So that helps to decrease the fatigue on your arm as you're hit striking against the earth. Also, on the tip we'll have this little clear protector. So that works out well on hard surfaces, like pavement or stone, concrete, things like that. And then if you take that off, it's got that metal tip. So that's going to strike and grab into things, like dirt, ice. And it also does have a little protector to keep it from sinking too far into softer material, like mud and loose gravel. All in all, I think this is going to be a really nice addition to your pack. As far as the specs, when it's collapsed, it's going to measure about 25 inches tall, whenever it's fully extended it's about 53. Weighs just a little under nine pounds. And that's going to do it for our look at the AceCamp Trekking Pole. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if it's going to be the right one for you. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
