Making Brake Stoplight Switch Connection When Installing Brake Controller on 2008 Chevy Uplander
Question:
I need to connect a Act II to a 08 uplander, I have found the trailer lights at the back, but cant find any thing for the brakes. does the uplander have any wiring for the brakes? Big question is the stop light switch on the peddle has three wires, any Idea what wire to use?

The Uplander uses a unique wiring set-up, in that the brake stoplight switch circuit is accessed differently than is typically done. Under the dash, to the left of the steering column, is the BCM or body control module. There is a very large 52-pin connector that plugs into the BCM. In the center of the connector, a white wire can be found that can be used to obtain a good brake signal.
Tekonsha issued a Technical Bulletin complete with photos that you will find helpful, to view the bulletin click on the provided link.
To install your brake controller, you will need our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. You will also need a Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole Trailer Connector, part # 118396 if your Uplander does not already have a trailer connector. The Install Kit contains everything needed to install a controller, including wire, circuit breakers, the 7-way trailer connector and all needed hardware.
I have provided links to the instructions for the Install Kit, as well as an install video that you might find helpful. The video shows a controller being installed on a different vehicle, but the procedure would be similar with your Uplander (with the exception of the brake stoplight switch wire as outlined above).
