Can the Custom Fit Trailer Wiring Harness # 118515 be used on the 2011 Ford Edge SEL
Question:
I was told by Ford, I will have to install a new fuse box and wiring harness to have trailer lights on my 20011 Ford Edge SEL. The reason, I didnt get the car with the towing package and the factory doesnt install the wiring.. If this is true will the 118515 work or do I need larger fuses or a new fuse box and harness? Thanks for your help.

The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118515, will install inline with your 2011 Ford Edge SEL tail light wiring connectors and power for the trailer lighting will be supplied by the vehicle battery, only requiring a few milliamps of draw on the vehicles circuitry for activation of the trailer lighting signals. You will not need to install a separate fuse panel, larger fuses or any other harness for trailer lighting with this harness.
The trailer wiring the Ford dealer is talking about is a system separate from your vehicles tail light wiring and would most likely require extensive rewiring of some of the vehicles systems for installation.
