Replacement Seal for 1-1/4 Inch Inner Diameter Measurement
Question:
I have a boat trailer with 11/8 spindle shaft that the bearing rides on. Where the seal sets I am told is the wider inner most portion of the shaft. An that measures 11/4. I used a single seal from napa after replacing the bearings an it blew out after 3 miles. Do I need a double seal? This is the 2nd seal I have tried. I cleaned the shaft with emery cloth it is smooth as slink

The double lip will provide a better seal, so I'd give it a shot. You will want the Double Lip Grease Seal - ID 1.249" / OD 1.983" - Qty 1 # 34823 for the measurement you gave.
