Recommended Roof Rack and Dual Kayak Rack for 2009 Ford Escape

Hi dual kayak rack. I want to carry 2 kayaks on a 2009 Ford escape. I previously purchased one from Dicks sporting goods but it did not work for me. The crossbars on the roof rack were too weak and bent under the weight. Any suggestions?

For your 2009 Ford Escape, if you have a naked roof, I recommend the Rhino-Rack roof rack consisting of:

If you have the factory raised side rails then I recommend the following:

This rack is rated for 175 lbs. You will with either option want to check your owners manual to see if the manufacturer has a different roof weight restriction.

For your kayak carrier, you can use a post-style carrier like the Thule Stacker Kayak Carrier System # TH830 or you can use more of a J-style carrier like the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier - Folding # S512 for each or add the Expansion Arm for Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # RRS512X to carry 2 kayaks. You may also want to consider the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist # RR-RUSL to help load your kayaks.
