Will Installing Draw-Tite Hitch 24965 Create Rust Issues or Void 2018 Kia Optima EX 10 year Warranty
Question:
I have a 2018 kia optima EX. Will installing the 24940 affect my kia 10 yr. warranty and would it become a rust hazard in the future? Thanks so much

Expert Reply:
Installing a trailer hitch receiver like the Draw-Tite Sportframe # 24965 (which is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Kia Optima EX) will not void your manufacturer's warranty.
Consumers of aftermarket products (like a trailer hitch receiver) are protected by the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.
The trailer hitch receiver will not become a rust hazard if properly maintained. The powder coat finish will prevent corrosion or rust. There is no drilling required for installation so you won't be creating any issues for corrosion of your vehicle either.
If you will be towing with this hitch, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118453 which simply clips into your factory wiring behind the driver's side tail light.
For a ball mount, I recommend # 3593 along with a hitch ball like # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball.
