How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 With a factory 4-Way
Question:
i Installed a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 With a factory 4-Way Wiring Harness. i want to install a electric trailer brake controller. on the 7 way have the blue wire which i know its for the trailer brake. i aslo know i have the the blue 4 wide connector under the dash for behind the e-brake for a trailer brake controller . What i can not is the wire at the back end of the truck to connect the blue wire from the new 7 way.

To utilize the plug-in connector for a brake controller on your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 you simply need to run 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 from the pin in the 5 o'clock position (see attached photo) up right behind the front wheel well on your driver side. If you check out the picture I attached you should find that connector by the wheel well. The blue wire should be the one that carries the brake controller signal but you will want to verify this with a circuit tester like part # PTW2992.
This will allow you to use a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 with a plug-in adapter like part # 3020-P to activate the brakes on your trailer.
