Towing Capacity of Trailer Hitch on 2018 Honda Odyssey

If the manual says 3,000 lb capacity, how does that get increased to your spec of 3,500?

The towing capacity for hitches and the vehicles they fit are oftentimes going to be different.

For example, your 2018 Honda Odyssey has a 3,000 lb towing capacity but the etrailer # e98855 Class III hitch has a capacity of 3,500 lbs.

This is what the hitch itself is capable of towing, but not the vehicle. You are always going to want to go by what your owner's manual says in regard to capacities.
