Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ford F-350 4x4

Question:

Im considering a purchase of your auto slide hitch for a 2017 F350 super duty 4x4 with the 6 3/4foot bed. In your description you explain a calculation for clearance. You stated that A = distance from center of the hitch to back of cab, B = slider travel, C = trailer width / 2. Then used the formula of A+B - C = clearance. But in your example you use a hitch to cab of 36inch and then add 22inch to get 58. Using the 58inch you subtract 51inch 1/2 the trailer width to get a 7inch clearance. Where did the 22inch come from in the example? Im confused about the 22.

I am not sure if you were looking at the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 18K # DM8550034 or the 21K # DM8550035, but in either case you will have a travel of 14 inches. This is the part that really helps you to have the turning clearance needed.

The clearance equation you referenced the 22 inches was an arbitrary number in this context as an example. It most likely was taken from our other option for shortbed trucks which is a fixed (non-sliding hitch) and a Sidewinder Pin box. The Sidewinder Pin Box replacement moves the king pin back 22 inches. If you use your measurements along with the 14 inches of travel instead of the 22 inches, then you will get your clearance. I've attached a couple articles to further assist.

I can confirm that your truck will work with either of these Demco Autosliding hitches. I also recommend the wiring harness for 5th wheel trailers # 50-97-410-010 to give you a second 7-way connection in the bed of your truck for easy connection access.
