Correct Wedge for 16K Pro Series Fifth Wheels with Sidewinder

SUBJECT / Summary: SWW-02 and the universal wedge will not work with the 16K Pro Series fifth wheels (30090, 30098, 30096, 90089, 30091). Use wedge number 30850 instead.
PROBLEM: The 16K Pro Series 5th wheel will not work with the SWW-02 or the Universal Wedge. They both interfere with the slide bar. DO NOT USE.
SOLUTION: The 30850 will fit all Pro Series 5th Wheels and will replace the SWW-02. You will need a 3/8" hex head bit to install the 30850 Pro Series Wedge.

I have a Reese sidewinder (9K?) & Reese 16K fixed hitch (replaced an old Reese hitch that did not have tilt forward, backward & side to side) specifically for the sidewinder. I sometimes have problems getting the slide bar to move (binding on something?) when unhitching and hitching. I purchased your recommended wedge but still have the same problem about half the time (the other half it works perfectly!). If I can not move the slide bar I end up jacking the trailer up or down (with my manual landing gear) moving the truck forward or back to try to eliminate what ever is binding on the slide bar. Is there any adjustment, grinding, another new or better wedge that would eliminate this problem? when it happens it is usually an hour or more of frustration getting the trailer hitched or unhitched. Thanks for your help

@JonG ....... I guess it is a 16K pro fixed (not sliding). It a Reese and has 16K decal (in blue) on it.

@William Usually when something is binding it's because the 5th wheel isn't level with the truck/hitch and so the king pin binds with the jaws some and it does take shifting things around until everything gets freed. The wedge shouldn't be causing this so I would say if you haven't already tried making sure everything is level before unhitching then that would be a place to start, as well as making sure you have been performing the regular maintenance on the 5th wheel hitch (which should be located in the manual). There is the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3200 that is supposed to be one of the easiest on the market to unhitch from but it's better to try to troubleshoot what you currently have than jumping the gun to a new hitch.

I a Trail Air rotating pin box on a 2021 Rockwood Fifth Wheel. I am using a Curt A 25 Ford prep hitch. The stock wedge with the Trail Air does not snug up into the V of the hitch. It is recommended that the Reese 31016 Wedge be used with the A16. Will the Reese wedge take care of the same problem on the Curt A25. I bought the A25 (from Trailer) looking ahead to a possibly larger fifth wheel in the future. Thanks for your help.
