Weight Rating on Combination Tire and Wheels for Trailer

Question:

This may be a dumb question but if the tire is rated up to 935lbs would i be good up to 1870lbs since there are 2 tires?

Expert Reply:

When a tire and wheel like the Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM3H310 are rated for max capacity of 935 lbs at 50 psi, then each axle will be able to carry 1870 lbs unless the axle capacity is less than the rated wheel and tire capacity. Whatever is the weakest component in your system (whether axle, springs, hubs, tires, or wheels) that weakest component's rating becomes your max capacity.
