Solution for Allowing Tailgate Clearance with Powered A-Frame Trailer Jack
Question:
Looking to replace manual jack with power unit but have minimal clearance for tailgate already-jack handle must be up to allow gait to come down. What model would have the least forward protrusion from the shaft and can any be reversed to have rear facing control box without drilling trailer frame?

What might be your easiest solution would be to go with a longer ball mount in the hitch of your vehicle. This will add a bit of clearance between the tailgate and the jack which should help. How much additional length would it take for the jack to clear? What is the distance between the hitch pin hole of your current ball mount and the ball hole?
Do you know what rise/drop ball mount you have as well? With that info I can pick you out the best solution. I attached a link to our ball mounts and a help article on picking out ball mounts for you to check out as well.
There is a facet category at the ball mount link I attached that shows longer ball mounts as well.
I recommend the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000.
It has a lifting capacity of 5,000 lbs which would be more than you'd need but will ensure that the jack will operate quickly and last a long time.
