Will Replacing Atwood Powered A Frame Jack with Husky Jack Offer More Clearance Tailgate/Propane

Question:

Trailer currently has Atwood 4000, now dead. Issues are: 1. space between jack head and propane tank cover Atwood has about1/4 inch clearance 2. clearance for raising/lowering tailgate of 2011 Toyota Extended Cab clearance for Atwood is about 1/4 inch. Can you provide me with the following measurements: 1. distance between the centerline of the 2 1/4 inch mounting tube and the rear of the Husky head? 2. distance between the centerline and the front of the head. Also, several comments from owners indicated they could mount the unit sideways, apparently without modifying the mounting plate, i.e. they turned the head 90 degrees. Can this be done? Will appreciate your response. Thank you,

Expert Reply:

Mounting the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 23" Lift - 5,000 lbs - Black, Item # JET-5000 sideways will give you a much narrower jack setup than your current Atwood jack so this would work well for you without requiring you to measure.
