Visibility of Receiver Hitch Installed on a 2011 GMC Terrain
Question:
Im looking for a hitch for my 2011 GMC Terrain. Probably a 1 1/4 class 2 hitch as I do not plan on towing anything heavier then 1500lbs. But plan on adding a 48 or 60 wide hitch cargo carrier. The question is how visible is the hitch after installation? Is the entire hitch body visible or is it just the hitch receiver? Which hitch would you recommend for an easy install?

Expert Reply:
When the choice is available, I would always recommend going with a Class III over a Class II. Going with the Curt Class III Receiver, part # 13591 would offer more choices in bike racks and cargo carriers.
The Terrain features a removable door in the rear bumper fascia for the receiver opening to pass through. The receiver opening and a small portion of the bottom of the crossbar would be visible from the rear of the vehicle.
All of the hitches available for your Terrain will install in the same manner. To view the installation instructions and an install video, click on the provided links.
