Trailer Wiring Harness and Other Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2016 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I have a 16 Tacoma SR with the utility pack. It didnt come with any trailer wiring at all, no plug and no receiver. Im looking to get it set up with wiring for lights and a brake controller. My question is would I have to buy this kit and ETBC7 or something like it to run lights and a brake controller?

Actually, the Tekonsha wiring harness, part # 22117, is all you need to put a 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your 2016 Toyota Tacoma for a brake controller since you have no wiring at all right now.
If your truck already had a 4-way connector, or you need both a 4-way and a 7-way, then you would want the # ETBC7 kit.
You're also going to need a brake controller. I recommend the Prodigy P3, part # 90195. Once you have the # 22117 installed it'll plug right in.
You said you don't have a hitch yet. The Curt, part # C13264, is confirmed to fit and is a great hitch for your truck. Then look at our ball mount kit, part # 989900, for everything else you need.
