Recommended Suspension to Replace 5,200 lb Axles
Question:
I want to increase my cargo carrying capacity on my RV. I want to replace 5200lb axles w/ 7000lb axles, springs, etc. Bigger tires and wheels also. Can it be done? Or would independent suspension be a better fit. Want to be able to go off road boondocking, upgrading the suspension.

Before potentially upgrading, you'll need to use your trailer's VIN and contact the manufacturer to ensure it can handle the extra capacity you're looking to add. If so, you can upgrade by using the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # TASR7KS01 which has a capacity of 7,000 lbs and will replace your traditional axle. These suspension units can be bolted or welded to your trailer, though if you do not have a crossmember above the area you are going to install the Timbren, you might need to reinforce your trailer's frame with a crossmember.
The Timbrens are compatible with Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 42866UC3-EZ. The hubs have an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, allowing you to use a tire and wheel combination such as the Provider # A16R80GSMHDV which have 16" diameter x 6" wide rims and ST235/80R16 tires which are 30" diameter and 9" wide with a load range of G, or 4,080 lbs at 110 psi. For trailer brakes with these hubs I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA.
I have added a link to video reviews of these parts for you to take a look at, as well as a link to the installation instructions for the Timbren system so you can get an idea of how they work.
