Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
I purchased the Hopkins wire harness for my 2015 Subaru outback several months ago. Super easy hook up and it worked great! just recently the 10 amp fuse blew so the trailer lights didnt work at all, replaced the fuse which gave me lights again only the right side trailer lights is constantly super bright now like the brakes are applied, no turn signal or hazards or running light. Left side acts normal. All the lights on the car work perfect and no blown fuses to be found and I checked the trailer lights with a different vehicle in which they were fine. Can I return the unit for a swap out? or Is there something I can do to remedy this that Im missing? Thank You

Sounds like a short damaged the converter box of the harness you have. This happens typically when there was a pretty bad short on the trailer wiring. The boxes are designed to short themselves out when they sense a bad enough short to prevent the short from transferring to the vehicle's wiring.
So what you'll want to do is find out where the short is on your trailer and fix that so that when you replace the wiring you don't also damage the new kit.
The Tekonsha kit part # 118467 is the best option for your 2015 Subaru Outback as this is the brand we offer that tends to be the most reliable.
