Can a 41 foot 5th Wheel Trailer Safely be Towed with a 2017 Ram 2500 with Short Bed

Question:

Hi! Recently I had clear answers from Jon G, regarding 2500 or dually? Now I found one good for 2500 Ram specs and total within gcwr limit and legal. But its have 41 foot long, so you think that length is ok for 2500 mega cab short bed? Thanks for advice.

Helpful Expert Reply:

The length of a 5th wheel trailer is not necessarily something you need to take into consideration when figuring out if a given truck, like your 2017 Ram 2500, is capable of towing it. As long as the truck and 5th wheel hitch are rated properly then you are good to go.

Although your trailer length should be fine, you will want to check out any laws regarding the legal length of a towing setup in any states you will be passing through. That is really the only time that you will need to take into account the length of your trailer.
