You can use a sliding 5th hitch in your long bed truck, however you'll need to add a base rail kit for your vehicle. One of the great things about 5th wheel hitches is that they use an industry standard rail and are mostly compatible across brands, so you're likely to have a fit.

I recommend using the B&W Custom Install Kit, part # BWRVK2602 as it is compatible with all major 5th wheel hitch brands. This kit uses the existing holes in your frame to install the base rails, and avoids known obstacles on your truck's frame.

I've included a link to an install of this kit on a 2016 Ram 2500 so you can get an idea of how the installation goes on a similar vehicle.

As far as using the sliding hitch on a long bed truck goes, there's really no disadvantage to it, and you'll have the option of an increased turning radius if you end up in a situation where you need it. Since the bed is so long though, its unlikely that you'll ever need to use it.
