Recommended Hitch Extension for Ball Mount Use in Rise Position with Step Bumper on 2001 Ford E250

Question:

I have a 2001 Ford e250 with a step bumper and a drawtite ultraframe #41906 receiver. The BandW Ts10047b in tha raised position interferes with the step bumper. Will not mate up with the 5/8inch hole in the receiver, missing it by 3/4. There two holes in this receiver, 1/2inch towards rear and 5/8inch towards front. The 1/2inch hole lines up but thats acceptable. The shank appears to be 3/4short of working or receiver was positioned 3/4inch to the rear. In the lowered position or stowed we are fine , it is only in the raised. The only solution I see is a shank extender which reduces your tongue weight 50. I do like this mount, very well made and I would like to make this work. Any ideas on your end.

For your B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 3" Drop, 3-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10047B a hitch extension like the Roadmaster Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7-3/4" Extension # RM-071-75 will give you the extension needed to tow in the rise position but it will also take your hitch's tongue weight rating down by 50% (as you stated).

Since you need 4-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the mount, you could also use a different ball mount for the rise position like the MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop, 6-1/4" Rise - 5,000 lb # MT70068. Then for a 2 inch ball use # 40038 or for a 1-7/8 inch use # 19260.
