Dutton Lainson Worm Gear Winch That Can be Operated With Drill

Question:

I need a worm gear winch that will take a webbing strap instead of a wire cable. I will use it to lift a kayak onto the top of a truck w/topper along two angled struts or guides. The rig will be similar to the Rhino-Rack Nautic lifter which will NOT fit my kayak rack. It is a Hobie Oasis Tandem kayak that weighs close to 100 lbs. I am an older female so would like to do this with least amount of muscle. I would prefer a winch that can be operated both manually, or with a drill. I am looking at the Dutton-Lainson WG2000 or similar winch. What would you recommend? Thanks for your help.

I recommend going with the winch you mentioned, the Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch with Hex Drive Handle # DL11004. It would work perfectly for your application and can be operated manually or with a power drill like you wanted. It also works with the Dutton-Lainson Strap # DL24242 instead of a cable so you'll be able to lift your kayak.

I've added links to a pair of video reviews of these products for you to take a look at.
