Ball Mount Recommendation for Trailer Coupler Height

Question:

Why isnt trailer coupler height part of the trailer specifications? I recently bought a Bass Tracker 175TXW with it factory built trailer. How hard would it be to say the coupler is 17 I think high?

Trailer coupler height varies slightly on every trailer and every vehicle has a slightly different trailer hitch receiver height based on the hitch manufacturer. Most trailers have a coupler height between 15 and 19 inches, but there are exceptions to that as well.

Because we can't possibly measure every trailer or every hitch receiver on each vehicle it fits, we are left to give you an example of how to choose the correct ball mount. To do so you will measure the coupler when level as well as the trailer hitch receiver opening. I've attached an article to assist.

This will help you choose a fixed ball mount for your specific trailer. There also are adjustable ball mount options that allow you to tow multiple trailers level. My personal favorite is the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10037B. This will give you an adjustable mount to tow multiple trailers level. It also has two integrated hitch balls to fit a 2 inch coupler or a 2-5/16 inch coupler. This ball mount has a really nice and clean looking stow away option that will protect your shins when not in use. I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 to protect your investment.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
