Installing Brake Controller in 1993 Ford E-350 Club Wagon Van

Question:

Ford 1993 E350 Club Wagon van with 7.3L diesel. Factory flat 4-wire trailer light connector located at rear bumper works fine. located next to it, in same wiring bundle, is the factory round 4-pin connector that should be supplying 12v accessory power, trailer brake power, etc. I have a tekonsha P3 brake controller plugged into the factory trailer harness under the dash. The tekonsha powers up fine. Cannot get power to this 4-pin connector. I checked all four pins with two different meters. Service manual suggests a 60amp fuse should be plugged into the under-hood fuse box but there are no wires going to the slot where this fuse could plug into.

Without having the tow package wiring like you mentioned, with the factory 4 pin, you will need to use the # ETBC7. The brake controller output wire needs to be run from the controller to the 7-way and the 12V from the battery needs to be run directly as well. This kit will give you what you need to make this an easy installation. The other functions of your brake controller should work as you stated, so you just need to run these two wires. You may need an extra length of wire for the length of your van, so you may want the extra wire # 10-2-1 as well.
