Wiring Adapter to Install Hayes Synchronizer # HA81725 Brake Controller in 2008 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma 6 Cyl, 4WD with towing package. I want to mount a Hayes 81725 Syncronizer Brake Controller and need a cable to connect the 4 pole connector on the controller to the 5 prong Toyota plug in the wiring harness. The 5 pole Toyota end of the cable would have to have a male connector. The hole pattern looks somewhat like this: - - - _ _ It has three small horizontal holes with two wider horizontal holes below them. Do you have such an item? If not do you have the plugs with pigtails to make such a cable? Do you have a wiring diagram for building the cable? Do I have to purchase one from Toyota? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hayes does indeed offer a brake controller wiring adapter that's compatible with the 2008 Toyota Tacoma that's equipped with the factory 7-way trailer connector, part # HA81785-HBC.
I've provided you a photo of what the connector that will plug in under the dash looks like. It's a four pin connector, and you can clearly see the pin-out in the photo I've edited for you.
Your factory connector under the dash will have 5 pins, but the aftermarket wiring adapters and brake controllers only use four of the circuits. The extra circuit is for an illumination circuit that isn't needed.
