I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and he stated that the older versions of the Primus Brake Controller did not have a boost button or feature so there is no way to set it up for boost. The newer Primus IQ, # TK90160, is an upgraded version of the original Primus and it does have a boost feature and button to control it.
Many brake controllers now feature some sort of boost feature. The purpose is to provide that extra bit of braking power for safer and more effective braking situations across a wide spectrum of different loads. I have included a link to the installation details that shows the boost feature and how it works.
