Can the Rhino-Rack RTC-Style Roof Rack Tracks Part # RTC16 be Installed at an Angle  

Question:

Hello, Im looking at the RTC16 tracks for my fiberglass topper. Couple questions: 1 Is it a problem if the tracks are a little bit on the curve or the outside top of the cap? The cap has the extra thick reinforcement in the center which goes almost to the edge so I need to place these rails quite close to where it curves down. By doing so do the towers pivot so that crossbars will connect correctly? 2 if I was to mount a roof basket without using towers on top of the tracks, can I use a t-bolt going up -ed in the slot where the arms normally go? Does it have to be a certain t-bolt from Rhino or will a normal stainless steel bolt work? Thanks for the help!

The Rhino-Rack RTC-Style Roof Rack Tracks part # RTC16 will need to be installed on a flat surface. If the tracks are not installed on a flat level surface then the tracks will rock and pivot back and forth creating a weak point in the water seals. If the tracks pivot then the crossbars will not attach to the mounting feet.

You will want to use the Track Mount Legs for Rhino-Rack part # RLTP, part # RLTF, or part # RLT500 for this track system in addition to a crossbar that is compatible with these mounting feet such as the Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Roof Rack Crossbar part # RB1120S for 44" bars, part # RB1250S for 50" bars, or part # RB1375S for 54" bars.

It is not recommended to permanently install a cargo basket/tray such as the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform part # RR42115BF directly on the roof. The only option we have that will allow you to install a roof basket/tray on a naked roof would involve using 4 of the Rear Wheel Vacuum Cup with Strap for SeaSucker part # 298-BV1001 one to secure each side of the tray/basket to your roof.
