Weight Distribution Hitch for 2005 Ford F-150 and Jayco Camper
Question:
My tow vehicle is a 2005 F150 and my camper is a 2006 Jayco Jayfeather Sport weighing about 3,000 lbs and dry tongue weight of 320 lbs. Would the ProSeries # 49581 be a suitable wdh for this combination?

In order to choose the best weight distribution hitch, you will first need to know your total tongue weight. That weight is going to be the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go Jayco plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your Ford F-150. To determine this, you can use a scale such as the etrailer # e99044 or by using one of the methods outlined in the help article on determining tongue weight I've linked for you. The ideal system would be one in which your total tongue weight would fall somewhere in the middle of the weight distribution system's tongue weight capacity.
The Reese # RE34FR has a tongue weight capacity between 200 lbs and 6000 lbs, so if your tongue weight capacity fell in the middle of that range you would be fine.
