How Much Taller Is A ST205/74/14 Than A 195/75/14 Trailer Tire

Question:

Someone asked you a question about replacing a tire with a different size tire. you gave the width and the overall size of the tire. Well, the overall size doesnt mean anything to the average person. What I need to know is the difference between the height of the tires. I have a ST195/75/14. How much higher is a ST205?75/14?

A ST205/75/14 trailer tire is 153mm or 6" tall on each side of the wheel and a ST195/75/14 trailer tire is 136mm or 5.3" tall on each side of the wheel. Therefore, a ST205/75/14 trailer tire will be 17mm or .7" taller on each side of wheel and 34mm or 1.4" taller overall in comparison to a ST195/75/14 trailer tire.

For a ST205/75/14 trailer tire, I recommend using the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire part # 274-000012 as all Westlake trailer tires come with a 5 year warranty in comparison to the average 2 year warranty from other tire manufacturers. This tire has a load range D with 75 mph speed rating (L).

Before you switch to a new size tire, you will need to be sure the new size will clear the trailer's suspension in addition to providing a load range rating suitable for you trailer. I have included a video review of the Westlake trailer tire in addition to our tire size help article for you.
