Can Curt Class II Trailer Hitch be Installed without Drilling on a 2017 Subaru Outback
Question:
I think I can predict your answer, but I will ask anyway. I intend to ONLY use the Class II hitch to mount a Thule 4-bike bike rack. Do I still need to drill the two extra holes and use 4 bolts to secure the hitch for this type of use. The thought of drilling holes in the chassis of a brand new car just does not sit well with me.

I completely understand where you are coming from. But you will need to perform the hitch installation to completion on your 2017 Subaru Outback. Otherwise it would have an unknown, reduced capacity and will void the warranty. If you are concerned about the vehicle drilling for hitch installation will not harm it. There is another option though.
To avoid drilling you can instead use EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" Item # 306-X7601. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. The installation takes longer than the other available hitches but it is the only one that does not require drilling.
