How to Determine Replacement Dexter Hubs for 2,200 Pound Trailer
Question:
I have a Dexter hub in need of replacement, there are not any numbers on the bearings.. I have a part number off the back of the hub, 8-258 A F 11 2343. The gross weight of the trailer is 2200lbs. The hub is 5 on 2 1/2. Which hub would work???

It sounds like you're measuring the bolt pattern from stud to stud. If that measurement equals 2-5/8 inches then they're 5 on 4-1/2 hubs. The 4-1/2 is the diameter of the complete circle of the studs.
Since you're bearings don't have any numbers on them you can measure to find the correct hub assembly. Measure your spindles where the bearings sit or the inner diameter of the bearings using a caliper.
If the measurement you get is 1.00 inches then you have bearings # L44643 and need # 8-258BTUC1 for replacement hubs.
If you measure 1.063 inches then it's # L44649 and you'll need hub # 8-258-5UC1.
