Video Transcript for B and W Ball Mounts - Adjustable Ball Mount - BWTS10047BB Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the BMW Tow and Stow 3 Ball Mount. This is designed for 2 inch x 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. The ball mount with the built in hitch balls is going to let you hitch up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank slides into the receiver tube of your hitch, and then the hitch balls are going to provide the connections for your trailer coupler. This unit features a stowable design. It's a very unique feature of the BMW Tow and Stow Ball Mounts. What that does is, it lets you store the hitch balls, and the mounting platform on the backside of the mounting block underneath the hitch of the vehicle.

In order to get it to a stowed position, you'd want to go ahead and pull and the clips and pins. What we're going to do is, we're going to rotate the hitch balls so that the flat side is up. Then you can bring this around the back side. Line back up the pin holes, and reinsert the pins and clips to secure everything in place. What this does is, it gives a clean, finished look to the back of the vehicle. It takes the hitch balls in the platform, puts them under the hitch.

That way when you're maneuvering around the back of the vehicle, you don't have to worry about running into the hitch balls, and it's going to expose the officially licensed gold colored brown in logo, and it's just going to add some style to the vehicle. When you're ready to tow, all you've got to do is pull all the pins and clips, rotate the platform back out, and then you can swivel this around to whatever hitch ball that you need for your towing application. Secure the hitch ball in place by installing one of the pins and clips. This does have an adjustable height design, as well. The adjustable height design is going to let you tow trailers of different heights, and still use the same vehicle, and the same ball mount. It's also going to help ensure that the ball heights is level with the coupler height for your trailer, which is going to offer a nice, level, towing set up. To adjust the height, have those back two pins pulled, and then you can adjust this up and down that mounting block.

The unit can be used in either the drop, or the rise positions. Once you have the height set, go ahead and reinstall the pins and the clips. The unit is going to offer 3 different sized hitch balls to let you tow trailers with different coupler sizes. You're going to get a 1 7/8 inch ball, a 2 inch, and a 2 5/16 inch ball. These are made from a steel construction. They have have a chrome nickel plating which is going to do a great job resisting rust and corrosion.

The unit is made from a steel construction, and it's going to feature a black, powder coat finish, which is going to be highly resistant to rust and corrosion. It uses a high yield tubing which is going to offer superior strength and durability. The pins are going to be made from a stainless steel construction. That's going to create sturdy, rust proof connections. To get it secured inside of your hitch, it does require a hitch pin and clip, or a hitch lock. Those items are sold separately. If you're in need of one, you can find them here at etrailer.com. The pin holes on the unit will accept a 5/8 inch diameter pin. When using the 1 7/8 inch ball, you're going to have a gross towing weight capacity of 5,000 pounds. When using the 2 inch ball, it's going to be 7500 pounds. When using the 2 5/16 inch ball, you're going to have a gross towing weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick. We're going to take some measurements from the center of the hitch pin holes, to the center of the hitch balls. You can see here at the back of the shank, you're going to have 2 pin hole locations. You simply just choose whatever one works best for your application. From the center of the hitch balls, to the center of that first pin hole, that's going to give us a measurement of 9 1/4 inches. To the rear pin hole, we're looking at about 10 3/8 of an inch. The pin holes here at the shank are going to be separated by 1 1/8 inches. The distance from the center of the pin holes, to the front of that mounting block, if this is in the stowed position, this is how far the front of the mounting blocks are going to be from the center of the pin hole on your hitch. To the closet pin hole, we're looking at about 4 1/2 inches. To that rear pin hole, we're looking at about 5 5/8 of an inch. With it at it's lowest setting, and if we we're to install it just like this. This would be the drop position. It's going to give us a maximum drop of 3 inches. That's measuring from the inside top edge of the receiving tube of our hitch, or the top of the shank, to the top of the ball platform. It's going to give us a maximum rise, if we flip it over in the rise position at the highest setting, it's going to give us a maximum rise of 3 1/2 inches doing those same measurements. The holes here on the mounting block, these are going to be separated on center by 1 inch. That way, the platform can adjust in increments of 1 inch, so you can achieve the height that you need for your particular application. This product is made right here in the USA, and its covered with a lifetime limited warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the BMW Tow and Stow 3 Ball Mount for 2 inch x 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receivers.

I LOVE this hitch! Never have to dig through the toolbox for the right size anymore! Tucks away so nicely and looks great in the storage position. Takes 30 seconds to move it from storage to towing! Worth the money!

So far, so very good. Very high quality.

I received the product just as expected. Not only was it as I hoped for, my favorite part of the products is the customer service! Even when I received the receipt for my purchase, the videos that where attached were so helpful to learn more about my product.

I am very pleased and will consider etrailer for my next accessory needs.

It’s a well made hitch. I really like the fact I can flip it to its stow position. Looks great with the browning logo.

I purchased this hitch for my 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 which has the multiple tailgate. The hitch was in the stow position but still damaged my tailgate when I had the tailgate fully down and used the step feature. it bent the metal and scratched the paint. So please be aware this hitch is not recommended for the 2024 GMC sierra 3500 with multiple tailgate.

by:

I love this hitch. With a locking pin, it stays on my truck all the time. Here’s why:

Height adjustment. This truck was tall when I bought it, so I needed the drop for my trailers to ride level.

3 balls. We have 3 trailers of different sizes and weights, so all 3 balls get used.

And a step! Even when not towing, I use this step to access the bed all the time.

Fits my 3” receiver without an adapter.

Spend the money and you will have no regrets down the road.

Was shipped on time.B&W hitch was fine just missing one pin clip.Box had several holes where pin clip could have fallen out. Looks like it had a rough trip.

I purchased the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 3" Drop, 3-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black and am extremely happy with it. It was $100 cheaper than anywhere else I shopped. Was delivered quickly and was an easy install. I used it to haul a trailer full of wood that I cut up and it got the job done! It is very heavy duty and takes the place of multiple single hitches. It’s nice to have all the options in one.

Multipro tail gate hit

by:

Fits perfect on my 2024 GMC1500 AT4. At the lowest setting and showed it fully clears the multi Pro tailgate when lowered. The receiver hitch has about 10” of clearance from the ground, in rocky off road situations I would want to remove it if not towing.

Bought to pull my boat with my Yukon and needed a drop hitch to level out the trailer. I wanted to buy a quality hitch, and let me tell you the B&W does not disappoint. Well engineered. It’s it heavy but when installed it is pretty easy to adjust height and ball size. Also supporting an American company is a plus!

by:

Gone are the days I need to carry three different hitches with different sized balls on them. Gone are the days when I, or others, walked around the back of my truck and cracked their shin on a protruding trailer hitch. I keep this folded up in front of the drop where it's not going to catch anyone by surprise. When I'm ready to use it, I simply pull two pins out which allows it to drop free and rotate out. I choose the height I need and install the two pins/clips. To rotate the balls, again simply pull the third pin and rotate to desired size. It was more than I wanted to spend at the time but since I'm glad I spent the money.

I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. It would have saved me from buying 4 different height hitch receivers. I have a boat trailer that requires me to mount this hitch upside down to get about 2.5in of rise. On the flip side is my utility trailer that requires a 2 inch drop. The kicker is that when I load the truck down with gear and people or load the utility trailer up really heavy, this hitch allows me to kick the ball up or down a notch to keep the trailer level. Also if you ever rent heavy equipment most of the trailers they use will have 2 5/16 ball, so I just flip the ball and I'm in business. Build quality and finish is excellent. I don't keep the mount on all year long but with some judicious use of grease this thing hasn't shown any rust over the past year of use. I am currently using this on a stock GMC Sierra 1500 and I really could have gone with one size down on the hitch drop/rise, but I figured if I ever bought a 3/4 ton truck or a friend with one ever needed to borrow the hitch it would have enough drop to work with that application as well. As it stands the 5in drop isn't too long to cause clearance issues with a half ton GM truck.

For those of you who are wondering about thieves making off with the ball mount - the design of the tow and stow is such that with all the pins removed and the hitch installed on the vehicle, it is not possible to rotate the ball mount off the receiver. Especially if you mount the receiver using the inner most mounting hole. All that is needed is a locking hitch pin and the whole setup is secure.

I've attached a picture of the hitch installed on a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 for reference.

It is exactly what I expected, fast delivery, extremely fine product. I also have a turnover ball from you that is also a B&W product. Thank You, Bob

by:

The 3” drop is perfect for a stock 4x4 Silverado 1500. I can tow my small trailer as well as my full size tandem axle trailer without changing hitches/balls. Just what I wanted.

by:

Love being able to have access to both 2" & 2-5/16" balls without having to haul around 2 hitche's and then the height may not be right.
When I'm not using I can leave it or stow it with very little effort.

by:

Super beefy and very well made. Packed well too. Some careful thought and enginnering went into this piece and you can tell. Im old enough to remember being able to buy high quality, locally made stuff for a reasonable price. Seems like those days are mostly gone. It was fun to inbox this hitch and appreciative the solid craftsmanship. Doesn’t happen too much anymore.

by:

Best hitch I've ever bought. This thing is amazing. It works for every trailer I've ever towed and looks great on the back of the truck unlike other manufacturers hitches. It has not rusted but I do wash the truck including this hitch every week. I live in the Salt band so that says alot. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid 1 time buy set up.

by:

Went with the B&W due to the length of the shaft going into the receiver. My 2024 Ram's receiver is recessed under the bumper. This hitch is long enough to accept my Towtector product. Similar to Rock Tamers. Also, Brittany in customer service was awesome to work with as she guided me towards the product that worked for my application.

by:

I looked at so many options before deciding on the B&W hitch, but I have no regrets buying it. There is nothing that my car is suitable for towing that this thing can’t accommodate. I even use it on the front hitch of my mower to move trailers around the yard! Adjusts very easily and stows nicely (though on my Ford Edge it rides lower than I like when stowed).

  • Ball Mount To Tow Multiple Trailers That Take Different Sized Hitch Balls
It sounds like you need a multiple ball, ball mount. I am not sure how much rise or drop you need but we do offer many 3-ball mount options. Since the Outback Wagon does sit a bit lower to the ground you will most likely not be able to use an adjustable ball mount with a lot of drop because of ground clearance. I recommend B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 3" Drop, 3.5" Rise - 10K - Browning part # BWTS10047BB which will provide you with a 1-7/8" ball, 2" ball, and 2-5/16" ball,...
