Expert Reply:

There is no plug-in brake controller wiring harness available for your 2008 Kodiak, so it will have to be hardwired.

If you already have a 7-way connector at the rear of your RV, you can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to locate the stoplight switch under the dash. This wire will only show power when the brake pedal is pressed. This is where the red wire from the brake controller will connect to.

The blue wire from the brake controller will then be connected to the pin on the 7-way connector at the rear of your truck that is designated for the brakes.

The white wire on the brake controller is for ground and can be secured to any clean, bare metal surface on the vehicle.

The black wire on the brake controller is the 12V power and will be attached to the positive battery terminal using a circuit breaker. If you have 2 to 4 brakes on your trailer, you will use a 20 amp circuit breaker like # PK54220.

If you need additional wiring to reach this length, you can use # 10-2-1, which is sold by the foot. If you need additional blue wire for the brake controller, you can use # 10-1-1.
