Transmission Cooler and Thermostat for a 2011 Subaru Forester
Question:
How to you keep transmission fluid from being over cooled when driving in cold weather when not towing our camper?
asked by: Dee
Expert Reply:
Transmission fluid cannot be overcooled. But in the winter when the weather is cold you would either need to let your 2011 Subaru Forester warm up a little longer or you can install a thermostat with the cooler so that it will only send fluid through the cooler once the temperature is high enough.
You can use Derale Fluid Control Thermostat Kit w/ 3/8" NPT Ports Item # D13011 with mounting bracket kit # D25793. The fluid will bypass a cooler, such as # D12906, if the fluid temperature is less than 180 degrees.
