Which connector does your vehicle have on the rear bumper? If it's the 4 pole flat connector, you'll need the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit - 10 Gauge, part # ETBC7, hardwired brake controller installation kit.

We have an FAQ brake page that I attached in a link below that will explain the installation procedure.

Your 4 pole connector will plug into the 7 way connector included in the kit, and you will run a brake wire up to the cab for the controller, as well as a 12V feed to the battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker included in the kit.

When installing the controller, the red wire would attach to the cold side of the brake stop light switch, the tester included with the kit will help you identify which stoplight switch wire only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. The blue wire would attach to the brake wire that has been run up from the connector. The white wire would be grounded to the negative battery pole, and the black wire would attach to a 12V power source via the 20 amp circuit breaker included in the install kit.

I attached a link to an installation page below that explains how to wire a vehicle for a brake controller from scratch as well as an FAQ article showing how the ETBC7 kit is used.

If your Liberty has the 7-way connector, the output circuit wire from the 7-way is already ran up under the dash. Look for a light green wire that terminates up under the dash or behind the kick panel on the drivers side. This wire would connect to the blue wire exiting the brake controller. The black 12-volt power supply wire, the white ground wire and the red brake stoplight switch wire would all need to be connected. The install kit # 5506 would work well. The black wire from the controller would connect to the positive battery terminal via the 30 amp breaker included in the kit. The white wire connects to the negative battery terminal and the red wire connects to the cold circuit of the brake stoplight switch. You will need a circuit tester like part # 40376 to probe the various wires exiting the stoplight switch located at the top of the brake pedal. There will be several wires exiting the switch, use the tester to probe each wire until you locate which wire only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. Once located, tap the red wire into that circuit.
